Union Information and Service Center (UISC), a union based information-service center in Bangladesh, aims at ensuring information service at the doorstep of grassroots people. [1] [2] 'Union Information and Service Center' started in 2007 as 'Community Information Center' (CEC) Is. Under the access to information program (A2I) of the Prime Minister's Office, the activities of the CEC were started on pilot basis in Madhanagar Union Parishad under Taraj upazila of Sirajganj and Musheedhat Union Parishad of Sitabganj upazila of Dinajpur district.
History
In 2008, the local government division of Bangladesh, with the help of the AiI program, came out of the CEC in 30 union parishads and established union information and service centers in 2008 on the pilot project. In continuation of this, in 2009, with the help of Local Government Division A2I, Union Information and Service Centers were set up in 100 Union Parishads. Currently (2012) Local Local Government Institutions are coordinating these union information and service centers under Local Government Division.
In 2010, the Local Government Division decided to establish another 1000 centers in June of that year. According to the decision (2012) 1000 union parishads and for this, 2,000 entrepreneurs were selected from these union councils. Keeping in mind the gender parity of the men and women, a young man, a young man, is selected in every Union Parishad among the entrepreneurs. These entrepreneurs invest a certain amount of money and join the agreement with Union Parishad. In this entrepreneurial election process, the Chairman of the Union Parishad, Upazila Nirbahi Officer is directly connected and informed by the local Deputy Commissioner.
In May 2010, a teacher training program was organized to prepare an experienced trainer team of 100 people, the A2I program in the Prime Minister's Office. In this trainer training, the participants of various telecentres participated under the Bangladesh Computer Council and Bangladesh Telecentre Network. Under whose leadership the entrepreneur training program will be conducted at district level.
Currently there are 4,501 union information and service centers across the country. [3]
